HOOKiNiT - How they came to be...

In the summer of 2005, we thought we needed a fun game to grab the attention of people at trade shows. To draw people into our booth, we wanted to offer something fun and exciting – but easy to play for people of all ages and abilities.

That’s when I thought of a traditional hook & ring game and having a blast I had playing it. I wanted something much bigger though than a string with a key ring and a small hook on a wall or a tree. I wanted the target to be much more exciting than a small hook. I supersized the first game using a large cowboy rope, roll of duct tape for the ring and a ladder hook for the target to hook.
While exhibiting at a NASCAR race having over 100,000 attending race fans, we took this supersized game with us to help us attract people into our display booth.
They ended up lining up more than 50 deep just to play our game, we were on to something!
Enlarging the game’s components really brought life to the game, then we started creating themes.

-
The first theme was “Shoot the Bull” where the target was a head of a bull and players swing the “brass ring” to hook onto the bulls horns to score points.
-
The second was Anchors Aweigh with a stainless steel boat anchor for the target and life ring for the ring.
-
The third was the Beer Czar with a bucket of beer bottles on ice for the target and a bottle top for the ring.

The rest is history!

Every game is hand made by myself using a sum of parts I design as a whole assembly utilizing CAD Design:

-
Design custom graphics
-
Construct main parts from composite lumber materials
-
Welding fabrication
-
3D Print custom parts
-
Desktop mold the rubber Rings
